Anyone who has ever visited a Blockbuster has surely had to endure pushy salespeople trying to sell you popcorn, candy and other crap you don’t want. That behavior can be traced directly to employee training videos such as this, which perpetuate customer annoyance that can only be equaled by car and furniture salesmen.
I’m still hoping that there are companies out there using training videos with titles like “People not Pocketbooks” and “If They Want Help, They’ll Ask For It: Respecting Your Customers By Leaving Them The Hell Alone” – but it seems too many businesses are taking the approach featured in this video, which could be aptly titled: “Bloodsuckers: The Art Of The Upsell”.
Now that I’m off the soapbox, I’ll conclude this post by saying: Copyright 1990? No way.
