After freeing a bald eagle from a trap, brothers Michael and Neil Fletcher of Chelmsford, Ontario proceeded to take a selfie with the majestic bird, which was clearly down with the plan.

The result was one of the most awesome selfies ever taken.

Michael described the encounter by stating the following to the Sudbury Star:

“I was surprised by the size, and that it’s such a beautiful bird. When you see the eyes up close, they’re really amazing.”

Although in the case of the distracted driver after the jump, who manages to drive his Jeep straight into a canoe, the result is more embarrassment and repair costs than the instant death that would normally accompany such behavior.

This baby sloth at the Costa Rica Sloth Sanctuary was supposed to be sleeping, but couldn’t ignore a camera mounted nearby. The result is a number of adorable, expressionless sloth selfies that reflect either intense fascination or fruitless attempts to get some privacy.

Artists Aric Snee and Justin Crowe focus their energies on designs that challenge the dynamic of humans and technology – specifically, technology and its illusionary “connectedness” and “sociableness”. With that they came up with the “Selfie Arm”, which is basically a fake arm with a camera attached to the end of it.

A prototype of the device has been created from fiberglass and is touted as being lightweight and portable, making a selfie look like a someone-elseie. Of course, something like this would be incredibly embarrassing for the lonesome to use, and if it becomes a reality, would probably be better marketed to those who want Mom to stop asking when they’re going to find someone, or those who want to make an ex jealous.

Recently, Rod Beckham noticed his daughter in the back set of his car taking a series of selfies, and decided to film the photo shoot and share it with the world. Not sure how he was able to do this without cracking up, unless he was silent with concern for his kid’s sanity. If that’s the case, sharing this with the world won’t help.

Check it out after the jump.

Hugo Cornellier documented every day of his life from the ages of 12 to 19 with selfies. As you will see after the jump, it’s like watching someone age on a lightning quick merry-go-round that rips off layers of clothes and occasionally causes mohawks and facial hair.

Alex Chacón is dedicated to his selfies – so much so that he embarked on an epic 600 day, 125,946 mile journey through 36 countries on five motorcycles, capturing GoPro video of himself along the way. These have been complied into the video after the jump, which is likely the most extreme, multicultural and expensive super-selfie ever captured.
