The Brookesia micra, or Madagascar Miniature Chameleon, was recently discovered on an islet just off of Madagascar’s main island, and is being called one of the smallest vertebrates known to man, measuring roughly half an inch in length when fully grown.

Frank Glaw, who led the team of scientists who made the discovery, stated that “there’s a potential for a smaller species,” and plans on returning to Madagascar this November to seek them out. “I’m sure there are many surprises awaiting discovery.”
