This stunningly beautiful image of our planet was pieced together from a number of photos taken by NASA’s new Suomi NPP satellite on January 4, 2012, and is available in a super high resolution 8,000 x, 8,000 pixels. The image is being called “Blue Marble 2012″ – a nod to the original ”Blue Marble” image taken by the crew of the Apollo 17 on Dec, 7, 1972.
