I just watched Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, so I’m confused… not exactly the perfect state of mind to address a painting of a bear with a monocle, top hat, and mustache holding an American flag and riding Abraham Lincoln with laser eyes into glorious battle. Perhaps the artist’s description of the work, entitled “The Civil War”, will clarify things a bit:
The concept was originally a random idea my friend asked me to speed draw in my AP Physics class. Abe and the bear became the topic of a few more doodles, and I felt like surprising him with a full painting.
Well, that makes a little more sen…. maybe not.
