On April 19th, McDonald’s held “National Hiring Day” with the hopes of employing 50,000 new workers. It was clear that the event got a strong response, but the final numbers are in – and they’re staggering. The restaurant chain exceeded their goal by 24%, hiring 62,000 workers. However, they reported over a million applicants in total, meaning they turned away an estimated 938,000 job seekers.
With news like this, it’s clear that the economic recovery still has a long way to go.
