Art Lebedev studios has taken the wraps off their newest display keyboard—the Optimus Popularis.
Each key is bigger with typewriter-style spacing, and has an individual 64×64 programmable display in full-color (not OLED like the previous Optimus Maximus). There’s no numpad, but there is an Fn key in the lower left corner that turns the right hand side of the board into page up, num-lock and calculator keys.
Apparently, pre-orders will start later this year with a late 2010, early 2011 release. The price expected to come in under $1000. Of course, anyone familiar with Art Lebedev’s history with product launches knows that launch windows like this should be taken with a grain of salt.
