DirecTV Bringing Anti-Microbial Remote Controls To Hotel Rooms

Staying in a hotel room can be a disgusting, disgusting ordeal – especially if you walk into the room and are greeted by a mold scent and sticky everything. These poor housekeeping red flags will not inspire confidence when you lay in bed, drop a deuce or reach for a remote to a TV that shows porn all day long. However, at least one of these problems can now be conquered without a wad of disinfectant wipes and the ability to suppress thoughts.

DirecTV is launching a new service for hotels called “Residential Experience for Hotels“, which features a special germ killing remote control. Rod Keller, vice president of Commercial Sales for DIRECTV says: “With approximately 20 percent of hotels currently offering HD service to their guests, we expect this new service to significantly expand the HD offering in this market with the added benefit of a sanitized remote.”

Indeed. The method of sanitation isn’t mentioned, nor when or where the service will be available – but it’s nice to know someone is working on this stuff.
